Louisiana downs Peoria in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Louisiana IceGators pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Peoria Rivermen on a clutch goal by Jake Hauswirth.

Although Louisiana was up by as many as two goals in the first period, Peoria kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Rivermen got to within 2-1 on a goal by Dan Bremner at 8:08 in the third period.

The IceGators were led by Hauswirth, who racked up one goal. Hauswirth scored on the power play 1:08 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Louisiana. Blake Hietala picked up the assist.

Louisiana stifled Peoria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Louisiana additionally got points from Stephen Buco, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Louisiana also got a goal from Geordie Wudrick as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Eric Tallent, Jeremy Boyer, and Alex Hudson, who contributed one each.

The Rivermen put 49 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.6 they average per game.

Peoria was helped by Luke Sandler, who registered one goal. Sandler scored 17:40 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Garrett Vermeersch assisted on the tally. More assists for Peoria came via Terrence Wallin and Mike Donnellan, who each chipped in one.

The IceGators' Adam Courchaine stopped 47 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Louisiana incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kyle Rank rejected 17 shots on goal for the Rivermen. Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
