Pensacola outlasts Huntsville, 3-2

The Pensacola Ice Flyers gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Huntsville Havoc.

Pensacola gained the winning advantage on a goal by David Segal 9:01 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Ice Flyers were led by Segal, who had one goal.

Pensacola additionally got points from Nick McParland, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Joe Caveney also scored for Pensacola. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Ryan Kesti, John Clewlow, Paul Rodrigues, and Corey Banfield, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pensacola power plays.

The Havoc were led by Jason Popek, who racked up one goal and one assist. Popek scored 17:28 into the second period to make the score 2-2. John Lidgett provided the assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Justin Tateson as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Brett Lutes and John McGinnis, who contributed one each.

Pensacola's Matt Zenzola stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Ice Flyers ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Kevin Genoe rejected 26 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
