GAME RECAP

Louisiana falls to Fayetteville in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Cajundome    Sun, Nov 15, 2015

The Fayetteville FireAntz's Graeme Strukoff scored 3:48 into overtime to beat the Louisiana IceGators, 2-1 (OT).

Fayetteville's Parker Van Buskirk was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Van Buskirk will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.95 entering the contest.

The FireAntz were led by Kyle Gibbons, who grabbed one goal. Gibbons scored 4:34 into overtime to make the score 3-1 Fayetteville. Zach Carriveau provided the assist.

Fayetteville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Louisiana power plays. The FireAntz relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Strukoff, Derek Elliott and Gibbons took 18 of the team's 31 shots.

More assists for Fayetteville came via Berkley Scott and Tayler Thompson, who each chipped in one.

Louisiana stifled Fayetteville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 27 shots on goal, the IceGators exceeded the 24.0 shots they average per game this year.

Louisiana was led by Chris Wilson, who scored the team's only goal. Wilson scored 16:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Jeremy Boyer picked up the assist.

The FireAntz incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The IceGators' Adam Courchaine stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Louisiana incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
