Pensacola wins tough contest against Mississippi RiverKings, 3-2

The Pensacola Ice Flyers gutted out a close 3-2 win against Mississippi RiverKings.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Adam Pawlick secured the win for Pensacola with a goal in the third period.

The Ice Flyers were led by Pawlick, who finished with one goal and one assist. Pawlick scored on the power play 16:40 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. A roughing penalty on Corey Bellamy had put Pensacola on the power play. Mike Krieg picked up the assist.

The Ice Flyers stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mississippi RiverKings was unable to stop Pensacola from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ice Flyers eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Pensacola included Cole Ruwe and Joseph Holka, who each put in one. More assists for Pensacola came via Matt Larke, who had one and Corey Banfield, who had two.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Mark Pustin, who had one goal. Pustin scored 4:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matt Harrington assisted on the tally. Mississippi RiverKings additionally got points from Devin Mantha, who also grabbed one goal and one assist.

Matt Zenzola recorded 26 saves for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Mississippi RiverKings' Peter Di Salvo stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For Mississippi RiverKings, Leo Thomas was ejected from the game.
