Columbus falls to Macon Mayhem in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Macon Mayhem pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths on a clutch goal by Alexandre Labonte.

Macon Mayhem was paced by Labonte, who registered one goal. Labonte scored 2:01 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Macon Mayhem.

In the losing effort, Columbus was led by Louis Belisle, who had two goals. Belisle scored the first of his two goals at 8:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Brodie picked up the assist. Belisle's next tally made the score 2-1 Columbus with 5:04 left in the first period. Kyle Shapiro provided the assist.

Macon Mayhem excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Macon Mayhem put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.7 it averages per game.

Others who scored for Macon Mayhem included Mike Montrose and Joshua Ranalli, who each put in one. More assists for Macon Mayhem came via Connor P. Toomey and John Schiavo, who each chipped in one.

The Cottonmouths' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Macon Mayhem power plays. Columbus relied heavily on its defensemen to assist its forwards, and the blueliners responded by scoring two goals on 18 shots. The 43 shots that the Cottonmouths put on net surpassed Columbus' average of 29.7 shots per game this season.

In addition, Columbus received assists from Andy Bathgate, who had two.

Garrett Bartus rejected 41 shots on goal for Macon Mayhem. Macon Mayhem incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Shannon Szabados recorded 27 saves for the Cottonmouths. Columbus incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
