Knoxville rolls over Pensacola, 6-2

The Knoxville Ice Bears had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

Knoxville got the win with help from a great game by Doug Reid, who had two goals and one assist. Reid scored the first of his two goals at 1:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Brad Pawlowski picked up the assist. Reid's next tally made the score 4-2 Knoxville with 14:17 left in the second period. Trever Hertz provided the assist.

The Ice Bears forced Ice Flyers' netminders to work in net, racking up 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Eric Levine made eight stops and Matt Zenzola made 20. Knoxville stifled Pensacola's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice Bears surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Knoxville has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Knoxville additionally got points from Zack LaRue, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Knoxville included Ben Power, Corey Fulton, and Corey Hale, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Jason Price, who had two and Andrew Bonazza, Shawn Skelly, Bret Peppler, and Jackson Brewer, who contributed one each.

The Ice Flyers were helped by David Segal, who racked up one goal. Segal scored 19:55 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Knoxville. Brandon Blair picked up the assist. Corey Banfield also scored for Pensacola. More assists for Pensacola came via Cole Ruwe, Paul Rodrigues, and Adam Pawlick, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Bears' Bryan Hince stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Knoxville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Pensacola incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
