Mississippi RiverKings downs Columbus in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Mississippi RiverKings pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths on a clutch goal by Reid Campbell.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Campbell, who had one goal and one assist. Campbell scored 1:01 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Mississippi RiverKings. Devin Mantha provided the assist.

Mississippi RiverKings stifled Columbus' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 35 shots on target during the contest, Mississippi RiverKings exceeded the 31.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Others who scored for Mississippi RiverKings included Ryan Marcuz and Mark Pustin, who scored one goal each. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Michael Beaudry, Leo Thomas, and Matt Harrington, who contributed one each.

The Cottonmouths excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Columbus forced Mississippi RiverKings goalie Peter Di Salvo to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Cottonmouths were helped by Chris Rial, who registered one goal. Rial scored 17:36 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Andy Bathgate picked up the assist. Adam Chapman also scored for Columbus. In addition, Columbus received assists from Louis Belisle, John Jackson, and Andy Willigar, who each chipped in one.

Peter Di Salvo made 29 saves for Mississippi RiverKings on 31 shots. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Shannon Szabados recorded 32 saves for Columbus. The Cottonmouths totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. For Columbus, Craig Simchuk was ejected from the game.
