Peoria rides Rank to victory over Louisiana, 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Kyle Rank helped the Peoria Rivermen defeat the Louisiana IceGators, 3-1.

Peoria was paced by Jake Trask, who tallied one goal. Trask scored 14:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. Ben Oskroba picked up the assist.

The Rivermen's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled four minors and three majors for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game Peoria had been spending in the box. The Rivermen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Peoria relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Luke Sandler, Mike Gurtler and Trask took 12 of the team's 21 shots.

Peoria also got points from Adam Stuart, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Tim Hall, who had one.

Louisiana was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and three majors for 27 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game.

Louisiana was led by Jeremy Boyer, who scored the team's only goal. Boyer scored 8:53 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mitchell Stretch assisted on the tally.

Kyle Rank made 27 saves for the Rivermen on 28 shots. Peoria registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Adam Courchaine rejected 18 shots on goal for the IceGators.
