Bartus leads Macon Mayhem to shutout victory over Columbus

Garrett Bartus made 30 saves to complete the shutout and led Macon Mayhem to a 4-0 win against the Columbus Cottonmouths.

Macon Mayhem was sparked by Michael Wills, who registered one goal. Wills scored on the power play 6:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Macon Mayhem. Macon Mayhem had gained a power play chance when Patrick McCadden was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. John Schiavo picked up the assist.

Macon Mayhem excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Macon Mayhem featured an improved defense during the game. Macon Mayhem averages 2.8 goals allowed per game. Macon Mayhem got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Macon Mayhem also got points from Curtis Megginson, who also had one goal and one assist and Daniel Gentzler, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Alexandre Labonte also scored for Macon Mayhem. Other players who recorded assists for Macon Mayhem were Vadim Guskov and Joshua Ranalli, who contributed one each.

Columbus was helped by Shawn Bates, who grabbed one goal. Bates scored 9:27 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Macon Mayhem.

Macon Mayhem incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brandon Jaeger recorded 19 saves for the Cottonmouths. Columbus incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
