Courchaine leads Louisiana to shutout victory over Mississippi RiverKings

The Louisiana IceGators used a sparkling performance by Adam Courchaine to take down Mississippi RiverKings, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Louisiana's 2-0 shutout victory.

The IceGators pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Louisiana was led by Blake Hietala, who registered one goal. Hietala scored 1:58 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Geordie Wudrick assisted on the tally.

The IceGators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mississippi RiverKings to score on any of its seven power plays. Louisiana featured an improved defense during the game. The IceGators gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. By firing 35 shots on goal, Louisiana exceeded the 18.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Louisiana also got a goal from Jake Hauswirth as well. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Jeremy Boyer, who had one.

Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Louisiana power plays. Mississippi RiverKings' offense operated below its season average. Mississippi RiverKings averages 2.7 goals per game. Mississippi RiverKings put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.2 it averages per game.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Matt Harrington, who took four shots.

Courchaine rejected 31 shots on goal for the IceGators. Peter Di Salvo recorded 33 saves for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
