M1 Minot State University holds on for 5-3 win against M1 Liberty University

The M1 Liberty University Flames tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the M1 Minot State University Beavers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

A goal by Craig Fournier put M1 Minot State University up 5-1 in the second period, but M1 Liberty University pulled to within two on Zachary Hayes's tally 9:57 into the third period.

Dylan Johnson had two goals to lead the Beavers to victory. Johnson's tallies came at 3:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 12:19 into the first to make the score 3-1 M1 Minot State University.

M1 Minot State University's defensemen played well offensively, producing three goals while racking up 21 shots. With 42 shots on target during the contest, the Beavers exceeded the 5.8 shots they average per game this year.

Others who scored for M1 Minot State University included Bryce Lipinski and Austin Yano, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Minot State University received assists from Cole Olson, who had two and Bob Pond, Jeremy Johnson, Sam Briscoe, Brett Nespor, Kyle Lipinski, and Ryan Curzon, who each chipped in one.

The Flames' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 15.5 shots per game they average. M1 Liberty University found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

The Flames were helped by Danny Logan, who grabbed one goal. Logan scored 3:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M1 Liberty University. Jackson Giammona assisted on the tally. More assists for M1 Liberty University came via Steven Bellew, who had one and Jeff Wilson, who had two.

Connor Beauchamp rejected 25 shots on goal for M1 Minot State University. The Beavers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matthew Pinel made 37 saves for M1 Liberty University on 42 shots. The Flames registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
