M1 Liberty University downs M1 Oakland University in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The M1 Liberty University Flames pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the M1 Oakland University Golden Grizzlies on a clutch goal by Zane Schartz.

M1 Liberty University came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Flames was down 4-2 after a goal by M1 Oakland University's Kyle Nelson at 18:47 in the second period. M1 Liberty University knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Jeff Wilson at 8:47 in the third period.

Schartz had one goal and two assists to lead the Flames. Schartz scored on the power play 3:02 into overtime to make the score 5-4 M1 Liberty University. M1 Liberty University had gained a power play chance when Conor Durgan was whistled for tripping. Zachary Hayes provided the assist.

The Flames' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five M1 Oakland University power plays. M1 Liberty University's offense was clicking better than usual and put 38 shots on goal during the game, better than the 11.0 shots per game it averages.

M1 Liberty University additionally got points from Hayes, who also registered one goal and one assist and Wilson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. M1 Liberty University also had goals scored by Grant Garvin and Tyson Street, who scored one goal each. In addition, M1 Liberty University received assists from Zechariah Roberts, who had one.

The Golden Grizzlies kept the Flames' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matthew Pinel made 35 saves on 39 shots. M1 Oakland University struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

M1 Oakland University also got points from Frank Saputo, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Douglas Andrews, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for M1 Oakland University came via Ryan Rotondi, Drew Parus, and Tom Kilgore, who each chipped in one.

M1 Liberty University incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Anthony Munoz rejected 33 shots on goal for the Golden Grizzlies.
