M1 Davenport University penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of M1 Liberty University

The M1 Davenport University Panthers, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the M1 Liberty University Flames' power play opportunities and emerged with a 4-1 victory.

M1 Davenport University was sparked by Luke Mccarthy, who racked up one goal. Mccarthy scored on the power play 11:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 M1 Davenport University. The Panthers had taken the advantage when M1 Liberty University's Bram Erickson got sent off for boarding. Cody Walsh picked up the assist.

M1 Davenport University's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Panthers surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. M1 Davenport University relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Matt Ogden, Chris Eckler and Walsh took 20 of the team's 38 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

M1 Davenport University also got points from Ogden, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for M1 Davenport University included Aaron Beally and Winston Hofer, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Davenport University were Kody Polin, who had one.

The Flames forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. M1 Liberty University had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. With 25 shots on target during the contest, the Flames exceeded the 14.7 shots they average per game this year. M1 Liberty University's defensemen bolstered the Flames' offensive attack, as they bombarded Matt Kaludis with 15 shots.

M1 Liberty University was led by Raymond Wilson, who took two shots.

Matt Kaludis made 24 saves for the Panthers on 25 shots. M1 Davenport University registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jordan Simmonds was ejected from the game. Joshua Halpenny recorded 34 saves for the Flames. M1 Liberty University registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Flames, Robert Ward was ejected from the game.
