M1 Villanova University hangs on, beats M1 Towson University 3-1

The M1 Villanova University Wildcats took the lead against the M1 Towson University Tigers in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory.

David Troiano provided M1 Villanova University with the game-winning tally when he scored 12:32 into the first period. A slashing penalty on Chris Szoka had put the Wildcats on the power play. Dillon McCourt assisted on the tally.

Troiano had a great game for M1 Villanova University, netting two goals.

The Wildcats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow M1 Towson University to score on any of its three power plays. M1 Villanova University put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.3 it averages per game.

M1 Villanova University also got a goal from Kevin Kiley as well. More assists for M1 Villanova University came via John Skaggs, Sean Mckernan, Matthew Brizzi, Douglas Geertz, and Myles Mitchell, who each chipped in one.

M1 Towson University was led by Tyler Darby, who scored the team's only goal. Darby scored 13:05 into the third period to make the score 2-1 M1 Villanova University. Ian Dykstra picked up the assist.

Michael Harper made 19 saves for the Wildcats on 20 shots. M1 Villanova University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Tigers' Tyler Stewardson stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced.
