The M1 Cortland State University of NY Red Dragons almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the M1 Villanova University Wildcats managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

M1 Villanova University led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Wildcats' Kevin Kiley scored at 2:24 in the second period to put M1 Villanova University up 3-0.

Matthew Brizzi and David Troiano provided the spark for the Wildcats, combining for three goals and three assists. Brizzi registered two goals and one assist and Troiano also notched one goal and two assists.

M1 Villanova University bested its season scoring average. The Wildcats have scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. With 51 shots on target during the contest, M1 Villanova University exceeded the 1.1 shot it averages per game this year.

M1 Villanova University also got points from Nicholas Schultz, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Troiano, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. M1 Cortland State University of NY was led by Michael Whelan, who had two goals and one assist. Whelan scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:00 into the second period to make the score 3-1 M1 Villanova University. The Red Dragons had gotten the advantage when the Wildcats' Michael Mcdonald was sent off for high sticking. Whelan's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 3:34 left in the second period. M1 Cortland State University of NY played down a man on Nolan pues's cross checking.
