M1 Illinois ^ University of uses early goal to top M1 Ohio University, 2-0

Shaunak Pal gave the M1 Illinois ^ University of Fighting Illini the lead in the first period, and the M1 Ohio University Bobcats was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

A goal 19:57 into the first period by Pal proved to be the game winner, and powered M1 Illinois ^ University of to the victory. The Fighting Illini had gotten the advantage when M1 Ohio University's Mike LaFrenier was sent off for delay of game. Grant Stueve provided the assist.

Joe Olen frustrated the Bobcats' offense all game, and stopped 42 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Olen will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.53.
