M1 Naval Academy ^ United States uses shootout to best M1 Rhode Island ^ University of, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the M1 Naval Academy ^ United States Midshipmen defeated the M1 Rhode Island ^ University of Rams in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.

M1 Naval Academy ^ United States saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Midshipmen made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Matthew Caine at 14:30 in the second period. M1 Rhode Island ^ University of evened things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Robbie Buehrer at 55 seconds in the third period.

M1 Naval Academy ^ United States forced the Rams goalie Erik Pelletier to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Midshipmen cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

M1 Naval Academy ^ United States additionally got points from Alexander Vandenberg, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points.
