Sarnia survives penalties, beats Lambton Shores, 5-2

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Sarnia Legionnaires were able to defeat the Lambton Shores Predators, 5-2.

Sarnia was sparked by Hunter Tyczynski, who tallied one goal and one assist. Tyczynski scored 1:25 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Sarnia. Ryan Trottier assisted on the tally.

The Legionnaires could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Sarnia also got points from Ryan Vendramin, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brandon Layman, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sarnia also had goals scored by Eric Marsh and Brendan Shagena, who each put in one. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Jordan Fogarty, Joey Zappa, Alec DeKoning, Konnor Roskovich, and Brock Perry, who each chipped in one.

Lambton Shores forced Legionnaires' goalies to work in net, racking up 38 shots and forcing 36 saves. Shayne Battler made 17 stops and Aidan Hughes made 19. Team could not crack Sarnia's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Predators were helped by Gino Mini, who racked up one goal. Mini scored 16:27 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Franco Sproviero picked up the assist. Ethan Sarfati also scored for Lambton Shores. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Connor Merritt, who had one.

The Legionnaires registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Anthony Hurtubise rejected 25 shots on goal for Lambton Shores. The Predators incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
