The Hurricanes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kitchener power plays. Kitchener was unable to stop Guelph from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Guelph was led by Cameron Stokes, who racked up two goals and one assist. Stokes scored the first of his two goals at 7:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. Sean Power picked up the assist. Stokes' next tally made the score 4-3 Kitchener with nine seconds left in the second period.
