Mark Manchurek finished with one point to lead the Leamington Flyers to a 2-1 victory over the St. Thomas Stars. Leamington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four St. Thomas power plays. The Flyers forced St. Thomas goalie Dan Black to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Matthew Opblinger also scored for Leamington. More assists for Leamington came via J.P. Grineau, Mitchell Amante, Mark Gangnon, and Scott Florence, who each chipped in one. The Stars were held below their usual level of production. St. Thomas averages 4.0 goals per game. The Stars did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 11 saves. St. Thomas was led by Carson Moniz, who scored the team's only goal. Moniz scored 9:11 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Matt McJannet picked up the assist. Tyler Wall made 11 saves for Leamington on 12 shots. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Black rejected 39 shots on goal for the Stars. St. Thomas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
