Stratford uses big second period to beat Brampton, 6-1Victoria Park Arena Sun, Feb 21, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brampton Bombers was within striking distance after one period, but the Stratford Cullitons put the pedal down in the second en route to a 6-1 victory. Stratford got the win behind a great game by Anthony Kotsovos, who had one goal and two assists. Kotsovos scored on the power play 17:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. A slashing penalty on Nick Kiriakos had put the Cullitons on the power play. Tyson Baker assisted on the tally. Stratford was led by goalie Alexander Brooks-Potts, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Brooks-Potts certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.02 entering the contest. The Cullitons' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Brampton power plays. Stratford's offense rang up 48 shots on Brampton's net. Stratford also got points from Jared Nash, who also had one goal and one assist, Hayden Broomhead, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Justin Graham, who also registered one goal and one assist. Stratford also got a goal from Zander Pryor as well. More assists for Stratford came via Josh Higgins, Zach Van Louwe, and Tanner Hertel, who contributed one each. The Bombers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Brampton finished with 24 penalty minutes. The Bombers were led by Nolan Klumak, who scored the team's only goal. Klumak scored 11:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Jordan Oshowy provided the assist. The Cullitons incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Stratford, Josh Miller was ejected from the game. Eric Pitcher rejected 42 shots on goal for Brampton.
