Burns leads Guelph over Waterloo, 5-1

Ryan Burns had two goals and one assist to lead the Guelph Hurricanes to a 5-1 victory over the Waterloo Siskins.

Burns' tallies came at 8:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 3:00 into the third to make the score 3-1 Guelph.

Guelph managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Hurricanes ended up below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Waterloo was unable to stop Guelph from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Guelph additionally got points from Cameron Stokes, who also registered one goal and two assists, Dylan Wallace, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Cameron Palmer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Guelph came via Stefano Pezzetta, who had one and Nicholas Bird and Brody Milne, who each chipped in two.

The Siskins' offense operated below their season average. Waterloo averages 3.2 goals per game. The Siskins could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game.

Waterloo was led by Andrew Lane, who scored the team's only goal. Lane scored 7:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. Joel Penticost picked up the assist.

Christian Propp rejected 19 shots on goal for Guelph. The Hurricanes registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Nathan Torchia made 33 saves for the Siskins on 38 shots. Waterloo registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. For the Siskins, Lucas Goodman and Penticost were ejected from the contest.
