Martin's goals lift Fort Erie to 5-2 victory over Caledonia

The Fort Erie Meteors relied on the scoring touch of Bryce Martin, who netted two goals, to beat the Caledonia Corvairs, 5-2.

Martin found the back of the net on the power play 8:19 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fort Erie and again while 19:15 into the third to make the score 4-2 Fort Erie.

Fort Erie stifled Caledonia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Meteors got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Fort Erie also got a goal from Holden Garlent as well. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Anthony Passero, who had three and Paolo Sivilotti, Ben Evans, Daniel Volpatti, and Chad Springer, who each chipped in one.

The Corvairs' offense operated below their season average. Caledonia averages 6.0 goals per game. The Corvairs' offense rang up 39 shots on Fort Erie's net. Caledonia's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Corvairs give up 1.9 goal per game.

Caledonia was helped by Jake Brown, who registered one goal. Brown scored 3:43 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Corey Pawley picked up the assist. Quentin Maksimovich also scored for Caledonia. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Ryan Punkari, Daniel Volpe, and Matthew Hore, who contributed one each.

Brayden Lachance recorded 37 saves for the Meteors. Fort Erie incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Meteors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dakota Miskolczi was ejected from the game. Mark Sinclair rejected 14 shots on goal for the Corvairs. Caledonia incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Corvairs, Mitchell Fitzmorris was ejected from the game.
