Listowel pulls away in second, rolls over Brampton, 7-3

The Listowel Cyclones scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Brampton Bombers and clinch a 7-3 win.

Blake Nichol had one goal and three assists to lead Listowel. Nichol scored on the power play 1:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Listowel. The Cyclones had gotten the advantage when Brampton's Adel Zivojevic was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Holdyn Lansink picked up the assist.

Listowel kept the Bombers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Pitcher made 25 saves on 32 shots. The Cyclones outdid their season average for goals scored. Listowel has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Cyclones were also effective in Brampton's zone, and came away with two goals.

Listowel additionally got points from Caleb Warren, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Lansink, who also had one goal and one assist, and Chayse Herrfort, who also racked up two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Listowel included Keaton Willis and Blake Pickering, who each put in one. More assists for Listowel came via Brady Anderson, Jakob Lee, Kade Landry, Ray McFalls, Tim Nauta, and Jamie Huber, who contributed one each.

The Bombers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Brampton ended up below its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bombers forced Listowel goalie Tyler Fassl to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Brampton was led by Tayler Woolcott, who registered one goal. Woolcott scored 7:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brad Bollert provided the assist. Brampton also had goals scored by Aryan Jusenovski and Mike Rehding, who scored one goal each. In addition, Brampton received assists from Nick Kiriakos, Patrick Zilak, Mitch Shennette, and Nolan Klumak, who each chipped in one.

Fassl recorded 35 saves for the Cyclones. Listowel incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Bombers registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
