St. Thomas blows out St. Marys, 6-1

The St. Thomas Stars had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the St. Marys Lincolns.

St. Thomas was paced by Cal Horvat, who tallied one goal and one assist. Horvat scored 13:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Thomas. Adam Keyes provided the assist.

The Stars forced St. Marys goalie Emanuel Vella to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots.

St. Thomas also got points from Spencer Hutchinson, who also had one goal and one assist and Spencer Lapointe, who also racked up one goal and one assist. St. Thomas also got a goal from Carson Brookshaw as well. More assists for St. Thomas came via James Newland, Matt McJannet, Ethan Nother, and Andrew Chambers, who each chipped in one.

The Lincolns were led by Nolan King, who scored the team's only goal. King scored on the power play 7:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Marys. St. Marys had gained a power play chance when Newland was whistled for tripping. Jeff Schrattner assisted on the tally.

Dan Black rejected 22 shots on goal for St. Thomas. The Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Emanuel Vella made 49 saves for the Lincolns on 55 shots. St. Marys incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
