Brooks-Potts leads Stratford to shutout victory over ListowelAllman Arena Fri, Feb 12, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stratford Cullitons used a sparkling performance by Alexander Brooks-Potts to take down the Listowel Cyclones, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Stratford's 4-0 shutout victory. Joe Leahy had two goals to lead the Cullitons to victory. Leahy found the back of the net 6:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford and again while 19:51 into the first to make the score 3-0 Stratford. Stratford was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game the Cullitons had been spending in the box. Stratford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Cullitons kept Listowel's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Fassl made 31 saves on 35 shots. The defensemen of Stratford were also effective in the Cyclones' zone, and came away with two goals. Stratford also had goals scored by Dylan Lebold and Zach Van Louwe, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Deven Kropf, Jack Scanlan, Drew Gross, Tanner Hertel, and Justin Graham, who contributed one each. Listowel stifled the Cullitons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cyclones did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Listowel averages 3.7 goals per game. Alexander Brooks-Potts made 26 saves for Stratford on 26 shots. The Cullitons registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Team's Van Louwe and Graham were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Cyclones incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
