St. Catharines beats Thorold 5-3 as Jackson gets hat trick

Tyler Jackson lifted the St. Catharines Falcons to a 5-3 victory with a hat trick against the Thorold Blackhawks.

Jackson notched his first tally 12:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:30 into the third and at 19:30 into the third.

Thorold was unable to stop St. Catharines from sending pucks towards the net, and the Falcons eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Tyler Hildebrandt, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Jake Evans also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via James Guest, who had two, Anthony Postiglione, who had three, and Mitchell Webb and Brandon Cercone, who contributed one each.

The Blackhawks kept St. Catharines' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joel Horodziejczyk made 30 saves on 33 shots. Thorold's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Blackhawks were led by David D`Agostino, who finished with two goals. D`Agostino scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:16 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Thorold had taken the advantage when the Falcons' Jack Webb got sent off for high sticking. Anthony Merante assisted on the tally. D`Agostino's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 6:32 left in the third period. The Blackhawks had gotten the advantage when St. Catharines' Ty Learn was sent off for abuse of officials. Brendan D`Agostino picked up the assist. Thorold also got a goal from Nick Sacco as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Jake Lloyd, who had one and Cal Davis, who had two.

The Falcons totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. St. Catharines ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Webb was ejected from the game. Josh Astorino made 27 saves for Thorold on 31 shots. The Blackhawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
