Pollice's goals lift Ancaster to 4-1 victory over St. Catharines

Michael Pollice was all over the ice for the Ancaster Avalanche, as he tallied two goals in Ancaster's 4-1 win over the St. Catharines Falcons.

Pollice's tallies came on the power play at 1:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Ancaster and 7:57 into the second to make the score 2-0 Ancaster.

The Avalanche were led by goalie Cole Ceci, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Ceci will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.51.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:00 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Ancaster's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three St. Catharines power plays.

Ancaster also got points from Jesse Hilton, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Joshua Pace also scored for Ancaster. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Ben Hughes, Max Balinson, and Ryan Knill, who contributed one each.

St. Catharines could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Falcons average 4.0 goals per game. St. Catharines' offense rang up 33 shots on the Avalanche's net.

The Falcons were led by Nicholas Dozzi, who scored the team's only goal. Dozzi scored 17:39 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Ancaster. Brandon Cercone provided the assist.

Ancaster totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Avalanche ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Donato Cipriano was ejected from the game. St. Catharines' Joel Horodziejczyk stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Falcons ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. For St. Catharines, Ty Learn was ejected from the game.
