Listowel uses early goal to top Brantford, 2-0

Holdyn Lansink gave the Listowel Cyclones the lead in the first period, and the Brantford 99ers was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0.

Lansink provided Listowel with the game-winning tally when he scored 16:36 into the first period. Jamie Huber provided the assist.

Lansink had two goals to lead the Cyclones to victory.

Tyler Fassl frustrated Brantford's offense all game, and stopped 37 shots en route to a shutout. Fassl certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.89 entering the contest.

Listowel excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Scott Pedersen, who had one.

The 99ers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Listowel power plays. Brantford did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The 99ers put an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. Brantford forced the Cyclones goalie Fassl to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Listowel ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For the Cyclones, Blake Nichol was ejected from the game. Will Rawski rejected 28 shots on goal for the 99ers. Brantford ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. The 99ers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Scanlin was ejected from the game.
