Hughes stymies Leamington, London wins 2-1

Connor Hughes stood on his head and made 39 saves to lead the London Nationals to a 2-1 victory over the Leamington Flyers.

London was led by Austin Kemp, who grabbed one goal. Kemp scored 14:26 into the third period to make the score 2-1 London. Tanner Ferreira assisted on the tally.

The Nationals did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. London averages 4.4 goals per game.

Kevin Madden also scored for London. More assists for London came via Colin Wilson, who had one and John Adams, who had two.

Leamington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven London power plays. The Flyers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Leamington puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. The Flyers' offense rang up 40 shots on the Nationals' net.

Leamington was led by David Storey, who scored the team's only goal. Storey scored on the power play 11:36 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Flyers earned a power play opportunity when Scott Dorion was put in the box for goalie interference. Matthew Opblinger picked up the assist.

London incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Leamington's Tyler Wall stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Flyers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
