Huge game by Burnell boosts Ancaster over Thorold, 4-1Morgan Firestone Sat, Jan 16, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ancaster Avalanche relied on the sparkling performance of Cole Ceci in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Thorold Blackhawks. Ancaster's Ceci was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Ceci certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.55 entering the contest. The Avalanche were led by Owen Burnell, who registered two goals and one assist. Burnell scored the first of his two goals at 3:23 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ancaster. Reilly Webb assisted on the tally. Burnell's next tally made the score 4-1 Ancaster with 1:37 left in the third period. Cole Nagy picked up the assist. Ancaster also got points from Nagy, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ben Hughes also scored for Ancaster. More assists for Ancaster came via Jesse Hilton, Fedor Gordeev, and Ryan Knill, who contributed one each. Thorold was led by Brendan D`Agostino, who scored the team's only goal. D`Agostino scored on the power play 12:05 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A boarding penalty on Matt Mannella had put the Blackhawks on the power play. Francois Plamondon assisted on the tally. Ancaster incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Josh Astorino rejected 21 shots on goal for Thorold. The Blackhawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
