Evans leads St. Catharines over Niagara Falls, 12-5

The St. Catharines Falcons' Jake Evans had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 12-5 win over the Niagara Falls Canucks.

Evans scored at 7:08 into the first period to make the score 3-1 St. Catharines and again while 17:12 into the second to make the score 7-3 St. Catharines.

St. Catharines forced Niagara Falls' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots and forcing 21 saves. Adam Dentico made 12 stops and Josh Horner made nine. The Falcons surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Catharines has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The Falcons' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. St. Catharines gives up 2.4 goals per game. Team could not crack the Canucks' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Falcons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. St. Catharines was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 52 penalty minutes.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Jack Webb, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brandon Cercone, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Owen Green, who also had one goal and three assists, Nicholas Dozzi, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Brandon Vuic, who also grabbed two goals and four assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for St. Catharines included Cole Langan, Romaeo D`Intino, and Anthony Postiglione, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Tyler Jackson, who had one, Mitchell Webb and Tyler Hildebrandt, who each chipped in two, and James Guest and Broderick Kelly, who contributed three each.

The Falcons were unable to stop Niagara Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canucks eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Niagara Falls could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Canucks were led by Zack Lansfield, who registered three goals. Niagara Falls also got points from Frank Pucci, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Thomas Flack, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Matthew Marsden, who had two and Sean Farquharson, Matthew Baldinelli, Peter Falivena, Luke Laurin, Austin Bottrell, and Cristian DiFonzo, who each chipped in one.

Joel Horodziejczyk made 27 saves for St. Catharines on 32 shots. For the Falcons, Jackson was ejected from the game. Niagara Falls registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities.
