Savage's big game bests St. Marys in 6-2 LaSalle win

Nathan Savage had one goal and three assists to lead the LaSalle Vipers to a 6-2 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns.

Savage scored 9:03 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Daniel Beaudoin picked up the assist. Savage dished an assist on Nathan Veres's goal that made the score 1-0 LaSalle at 12:00 into the first period. He then added assists on Nikko Sablone's goal at 7:31 into the third and on Matthew Doucette's goal at 11:28 into the third.

LaSalle stifled St. Marys' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Vipers' offense rang up 46 shots on the Lincolns' net.

LaSalle also got points from Sablone, who also had one goal and two assists. LaSalle also had goals scored by Liam MacDougall and Nolan Gardiner, who each put in one. More assists for LaSalle came via Cale Allen, Brett Banwell, Manny Silverio, and Brett Primeau, who each chipped in one.

St. Marys put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow LaSalle to score on any of its three power plays.

The Lincolns were helped by Mike Tuffin, who racked up one goal. Tuffin scored 17:44 into the first period to make the score 1-1. St. Marys also got a goal from Brody Smith as well. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Colin Capstick and Jeff Schrattner, who contributed one each.

Eli Billing rejected 17 shots on goal for the Vipers. LaSalle incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. St. Marys' Paul Town stopped 40 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Lincolns incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
