Waterloo outlasts Elmira, 3-2Waterloo Rec Complex Sun, Jan 10, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Waterloo Siskins escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Elmira Sugar Kings. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Gary Mantz secured the win for Waterloo with a goal in the third period. The Siskins were paced by Mantz, who registered one goal and one assist. Mantz scored 18:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Waterloo. Brett Schaefer provided the assist. Waterloo's offense rang up 48 shots on Elmira's net. Waterloo also got points from Andrew Lane, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Owen Kipke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Ryan Sparkes and Nate Schnarr, who each chipped in one. The Sugar Kings were helped by Jeff Jordan, who racked up one goal. Jordan scored on the power play 11:14 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Elmira had gained a power play chance when Matt Bourbeau was whistled for tripping. Kyle Soper assisted on the tally. David Elford also scored for Elmira. In addition, Elmira received assists from Beau Goehrum, Mitch Hoelscher (APM), and Ryan Walsh, who contributed one each. Bailey DeGasperis recorded 27 saves for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Liam Devine made 45 saves for the Sugar Kings on 48 shots. Elmira incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
