Caledonia rolls over Ancaster, 5-1

The Caledonia Corvairs had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Ancaster Avalanche.

Caledonia pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 28 penalty minutes.

The Corvairs were paced by Blake Luscombe, who registered one goal. Luscombe scored 15:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Corey Pawley assisted on the tally.

Caledonia excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Corvairs forced Ancaster goalie Cole Ceci to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Caledonia additionally got points from Austin Brown, who also had one goal and one assist, Daniel Volpe, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Tyler Hill, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mitchell Fitzmorris also scored for Caledonia. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Jake Brown, who had two and Mark Sinclair and Quentin Maksimovich, who contributed one each.

The Avalanche were held below their usual level of production. Ancaster averages 3.9 goals per game.

Sinclair rejected 22 shots on goal for Caledonia. The Corvairs registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Caledonia, Ryan Punkari and Volpe were ejected from the contest. Ceci recorded 42 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Avalanche ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Cox was ejected from the game.
