Stratford falls to Waterloo in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Waterloo Rec Complex Sat, Jan 02, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Waterloo Siskins pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Stratford Cullitons on a clutch goal by Nate Schnarr. Schnarr had two goals to lead Waterloo to victory. Schnarr found the back of the net 19:07 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 4:15 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Waterloo. The Siskins found themselves short handed often, totaling 48 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. Austin Bentley also scored for Waterloo. More assists for Waterloo came via Connor Jean, who had two and Gary Mantz, Anthony Pullicino, Luke Gazzola, and Nick Hirst, who each chipped in one. Stratford's offense operated below its season average. The Cullitons put an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. Stratford kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitchell Datz made 39 saves on 41 shots. The Cullitons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game. Stratford was helped by Jack Scanlan, who finished with one goal. Scanlan scored 6:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Drew Gross provided the assist. Stratford also got a goal from Joe Leahy as well. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jared Nash, Zander Pryor, and Hayden Broomhead, who contributed one each. The Siskins registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Alexander Brooks-Potts made 23 saves for the Cullitons on 26 shots.
