MacSorley nets hat trick, leads Elmira to 7-5 win over Brantford

A hat trick by Mackenzie MacSorley was the highlight in Sugar Kings' 7-5 win against the Brantford 99ers.

MacSorley notched his first tally 6:44 into the second period. He then added goals at 11:44 into the second and at 18:07 into the second.

The Elmira Sugar Kings forced Brantford's goalies to work without much rest, ripping 38 shots and forcing 31 saves. Tristan Lewis made eight stops and Will Rawski made 23. Elmira's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Sugar Kings average 3.6 goals per contest.

Elmira also got points from Ethan Skinner, who also registered one goal and two assists, Jeff Jordan, who also had one goal and two assists, and Jake Moggy, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Elmira also got a goal from Ty Biles as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Alex Peterson, who had one, Ryley Cribbin, who had two, and Zac Coulter, who had four.

The 99ers outdid their season average for goals scored. Brantford averages 2.6 goals per game.

The 99ers were led by Christian Polillo, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Polillo scored the first of his two goals at 13:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matt Scanlin provided the assist. Polillo's next tally made the score 2-1 Brantford with 3:49 left in the first period. Guy Polillo picked up the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Scanlin, who also had one goal and one assist and Nick Visser, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kyle Walker also scored for Brantford. In addition, Brantford received assists from Justin Donnelly, Nicholas Durajlija, Matthew Woods, Jay Dekker, and Bryce O`Brien, who each chipped in one.

Liam Devine rejected 19 shots on goal for Elmira. The Sugar Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brantford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
