Thorold falls to Niagara Falls in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Andrew Barbeau gave the Niagara Falls Canucks a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Thorold Blackhawks when he scored 1:23 into the extra period.

Niagara Falls overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Canucks trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by Thorold's Anthony Postiglione at 17:42 in the second period. Niagara Falls tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Johnny Curran at 7:11 in the third period.

The Canucks were paced by Barbeau, who had one goal and one assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:48 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Niagara Falls forced the Blackhawks goalie Josh Astorino to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Niagara Falls additionally got points from Curran, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Niagara Falls included Zack Lansfield and Austin Bottrell, who each put in one. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Luke Laurin, who had one and Frank Pucci, who had three.

Thorold's offense rang up 32 shots on the Canucks' net.

Thorold also had goals scored by Greg Christmas and Anthony Merante, who scored one goal each. More assists for Thorold came via Tyler Sehovic, who had two and Anton Trublin and Rick Eberhart, who each chipped in one.

Adam Dentico made 29 saves for Niagara Falls on 32 shots. The Canucks totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Niagara Falls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dillon Hill was ejected from the game. Astorino rejected 39 shots on goal for the Blackhawks. Thorold totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Blackhawks, Perth Swick was ejected from the game.
