Huge game by Florence boosts Leamington over St. Marys, 6-1

Scott Florence had two goals and three assists to lead the Leamington Flyers to a 6-1 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns.

Florence scored at 12:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington and again while 9:23 into the third to make the score 5-0 Leamington.

Leamington was led by goalie Michael Barrett, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Barrett will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.54.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:30 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four St. Marys power plays. Leamington kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Emanuel Vella made 32 saves on 38 shots.

Leamington additionally got points from Aaron Langlois, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Leamington included Jacob McGhee, Cale Phibbs, and Zach Guilbeault, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were J.P. Grineau, who had two, Luke Sanko, who had four, and Mark Gangnon and Derek Elliott, who contributed one each.

The Flyers totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Leamington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitchell Crevatin was ejected from the game. The Lincolns ended with 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For St. Marys, Trent Dundas was ejected from the game.
