Huge game by Baker boosts Stratford over Elmira, 5-2

Tyson Baker was all over the ice for the Stratford Cullitons, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Stratford's 5-2 win over the Elmira Sugar Kings.

Baker scored at 14:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Stratford and again while short handed 15:32 into the second to make the score 3-0 Stratford.

The Cullitons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Elmira to score on any of its three power plays. The Sugar Kings were unable to stop Stratford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cullitons eventually piled up 50 shots on goal.

Stratford also got points from Jared Nash, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Stratford also had goals scored by Jack Scanlan and Justin Graham, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Josh Miller, who had two and Anthony Kotsovos, Tristan Hohl, and Hayden Broomhead, who contributed one each.

Elmira forced Stratford goalie Alexander Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Sugar Kings were helped by Ty Biles, who had one goal. Biles scored 3:50 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Stratford. Ryley Cribbin assisted on the tally. Elmira also got a goal from Ethan Skinner as well. In addition, Elmira received assists from Mitch Montgomery, Ryan Walsh, and Mackenzie MacSorley, who each chipped in one.

The Cullitons' Brooks-Potts stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Stratford totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Cullitons, Josh Higgins was ejected from the game. Liam Devine made 45 saves for Elmira on 49 shots. The Sugar Kings ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Elmira ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and David Elford was ejected from the game.
