St. Catharines falls to Caledonia in overtime, 1-0 (OT)

The Caledonia Corvairs pulled out a 1-0 (OT) overtime victory over the St. Catharines Falcons on a clutch goal by Daniel Volpe.

Johnathon Schaefer's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 1:36 in the fifth period. Matthew Hore provided the assist.

Caledonia's penalty kill excelled, as the Corvairs gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Caledonia stifled St. Catharines' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Corvairs were held below their usual level of production. Caledonia puts an average of 5.6 pucks into the net per game. The Corvairs' offense rang up 38 shots on the Falcons' net. Caledonia's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Corvairs finished with 36 penalty minutes.

More assists for Caledonia came via Mark Sinclair, who had one.

St. Catharines stifled Caledonia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Falcons did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. St. Catharines averages 4.1 goals per game.

Sinclair recorded 23 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt McCartney was ejected from the game. Joel Horodziejczyk rejected 37 shots on goal for the Falcons. St. Catharines ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Team's Jake Evans and Tyler Hildebrandt were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
