Caledonia falls to Niagara Falls in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Johnny Curran gave the Niagara Falls Canucks a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Caledonia Corvairs when he scored 38 seconds into the extra period.

Niagara Falls pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 48 penalty minutes.

The Canucks were paced by Curran, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Niagara Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Canucks kept Caledonia's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Sinclair made 35 saves on 39 shots.

Others who scored for Niagara Falls included Tanner Allen, Thomas Flack, and Zack Lansfield, who scored one goal each. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Andrew Barbeau, who had two and Taggart Ledyard, Kevin Boyd, Sean Farquharson, Matthew Baldinelli, and Evan Denley, who each chipped in one.

The Corvairs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Niagara Falls power plays. Caledonia could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Corvairs put an average of 5.8 pucks into the net per game. Niagara Falls was unable to stop Caledonia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Corvairs eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. Caledonia could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 58 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Corvairs were helped by Matthew Hore, who had one goal. Hore scored 14:16 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Corey Pawley picked up the assist. Caledonia also had goals scored by Daniel Volpe and Jake Brown, who each put in one. More assists for Caledonia came via Austin Brown, Mitchell Fitzmorris, Jordan Brown, and Chadd Bauman, who contributed one each.

Joseph Murdaca made 51 saves for the Canucks on 54 shots. Caledonia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Blake Luscombe was ejected from the game.
