Fogarty leads Sarnia over Lambton Shores, 5-2

Behind a great game by Jordan Fogarty, who had one goal and two assists, the Sarnia Legionnaires defeated the Lambton Shores Predators, 5-2.

Fogarty scored 14:15 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Sarnia. Ryan Vendramin picked up the assist. Fogarty dished an assist on Brandon Layman's goal that made the score 4-1 Sarnia at 7:34 into the third period. He added another helper on Layman's goal that made the score 5-2 Sarnia at 19:46 into the third period.

Lambton Shores' power play was ineffective against Sarnia's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Legionnaires' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. Sarnia surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Legionnaires kept the Predators' goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony Hurtubise made 33 saves on 38 shots.

Sarnia also got points from Ryan Trottier, who also registered one goal and one assist and Layman, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Sarnia also got a goal from Brock Perry as well. More assists for Sarnia came via Hunter Tyczynski and Brett Storr, who contributed one each.

Lambton Shores excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Predators could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lambton Shores was helped by Matthew Philip, who had one goal. Philip scored 16:31 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Sarnia. Ryan Fraser assisted on the tally. Ethan Sarfati also scored for Lambton Shores. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Franco Sproviero, Andrew Kim, and Brenden Trottier, who each chipped in one.

Shayne Battler recorded 25 saves for Sarnia. For the Legionnaires, Tyczynski and PJ Vandervaart were ejected from the contest.
