London rides Weir to victory over Strathroy, 3-1

The London Nationals relied on the sparkling performance of Zack Weir in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Strathroy Rockets.

London's penalty kill excelled, as the Nationals gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

London was paced by John Warren, who grabbed one goal. Warren scored 11:02 into the second period to make the score 2-0 London. Tanner Ferreira picked up the assist.

Strathroy was unable to stop the Nationals from sending pucks towards the net, and London eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

London additionally got points from Rai Di Loreto, who also racked up one goal and one assist. London also got a goal from Callum Ruddock as well. In addition, London received assists from John Adams, who had two and Alex Cimino and Matt Doty, who contributed one each.

The Rockets stifled the Nationals' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Strathroy's offense rang up 46 shots on London's net.

The Rockets were led by Steve Griggs, who scored the team's only goal. Griggs scored on the power play 6:24 into the third period to make the score 2-1 London. Strathroy earned a power play opportunity when Kevin Madden was put in the box for hooking. Lucas Latina provided the assist.

Weir rejected 45 shots on goal for the Nationals. London incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Dane Gubbels recorded 33 saves for the Rockets. Strathroy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
