LaSalle survives Chatham comeback, wins 5-3Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Dec 02, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The LaSalle Vipers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Chatham Maroons and clinched a 5-3 victory. LaSalle led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Vipers' Connor Rosaasen scored at 5:18 in the third period to put LaSalle up 4-1. Nathan Savage had one goal and two assists to lead the Vipers. Savage scored on the power play 8:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle. A high sticking penalty on Gus Ford had put LaSalle on the power play. Tyler Russell picked up the assist. The Vipers' offense rang up 40 shots on Chatham's net. LaSalle additionally got points from Liam MacDougall, who also registered one goal and two assists and Russell, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Michael Ruttinger also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Eric Kirby, James Brooks, and Kyle Auger, who contributed one each. The Maroons kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Paolo Battisti made 40 saves on 43 shots. Chatham could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. The Maroons were helped by Teddy McGeen, who had one goal. McGeen scored 13:33 into the third period to make the score 4-2 LaSalle. Steven Beenackers assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Chatham included Connor McKinnon and Mark Fratarcangelli, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Michael Douglas and Austin Thompson, who each chipped in one. The Vipers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brendan Johnston made 35 saves for Chatham on 39 shots. The Maroons registered two goals on five power play opportunities. |
