Waterloo downs Stratford in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Waterloo Siskins pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Stratford Cullitons on a clutch goal by Austin Bentley.

Stratford's power play was ineffective against Waterloo's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Siskins were led by Bentley, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Bentley scored on the power play 4:31 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Waterloo. Waterloo had gotten the advantage when the Cullitons' Hayden Broomhead was sent off for slashing. Brett Schaefer picked up the assist.

The Siskins' offense rang up 32 shots on Stratford's net.

Waterloo also got points from Andrew Lane, who also registered one goal and one assist, Gary Mantz, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Nate Schnarr, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Waterloo came via Nick King, Mitchell Rooney, and Matt Bourbeau, who each chipped in one.

The Cullitons kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bailey DeGasperis made 36 saves on 39 shots.

Stratford was helped by Zander Pryor, who racked up one goal. Pryor scored 4:11 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Jack Scanlan assisted on the tally. Stratford also had goals scored by Joe Leahy and Dylan Lebold, who each put in one. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jared Nash, Zach Van Louwe, and Justin Graham, who contributed one each.

The Siskins totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Waterloo, Rooney was ejected from the game. Carson Poulin rejected 28 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Stratford ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Cullitons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyson Baker was ejected from the game.
