Brampton rides Rhynold to victory over Guelph, 5-1

The Brampton Bombers relied on the sparkling performance of Jason Rhynold in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Guelph Hurricanes.

Brampton's penalty kill excelled, as the Bombers gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Brampton was sparked by Carmine Vietri, who registered one goal. Vietri scored 1:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. Wyatt Weppler picked up the assist.

The Bombers stifled Guelph's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brampton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brampton also got points from Cameron Cruickshank, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Adel Zivojevic, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Brampton also had goals scored by Mike Rehding and Brad Bollert, who scored one goal each. More assists for Brampton came via Anthony Pullicino and Patrick Zilak, who each chipped in one and Tayler Woolcott and Joseph Spina, who contributed two each.

The Hurricanes were held below their usual level of production. Guelph averages 3.8 goals per game. The Bombers were unable to stop the Hurricanes from sending pucks towards the net, and Guelph eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Hurricanes managed to hold Brampton's power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. Guelph could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Hurricanes were led by Ryan Burns, who scored the team's only goal. Burns scored 14:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Migliaccio provided the assist.

Jason Rhynold made 34 saves for the Bombers on 35 shots. Brampton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Weppler was ejected from the game. Christian Propp took the loss and made 11 saves before being replaced by Jason DaSilva who made 13 saves. For Guelph, Kevin Gergely was ejected from the game.
