Hughes leads London to shutout victory over St. Marys

Connor Hughes recorded a shutout against the St. Marys Lincolns as the London Nationals picked up a 4-0 win.

St. Marys' power play was ineffective against London's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Nationals were led by Austin Kemp, who racked up one goal. Kemp scored 10:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. John Warren provided the assist.

London stifled the Lincolns' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Nationals' defense was surprisingly good. London averages 2.8 goals allowed per game. The Nationals kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Emanuel Vella made 33 saves on 37 shots.

London also had goals scored by Kevin Madden, Rai Di Loreto, and Max Vinogradov, who each put in one. More assists for London came via Callum Ruddock, Tanner Ferreira, Scott Dorion, Sam Harris, Trevor Dulong, and Colin Wilson, who contributed one each.

The Lincolns could not produce up to their normal offensive output. St. Marys averages 2.7 goals per game. The Lincolns found themselves short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Connor Hughes made 30 saves for London on 30 shots. The Nationals incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
