Thompson's big game bests Lambton Shores in 5-2 Chatham win

Behind a great game by Austin Thompson, who had two goals and two assists, the Chatham Maroons defeated the Lambton Shores Predators, 5-2.

Thompson's tallies came at 5:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 6:28 into the third to make the score 3-3.

Chatham's offense rang up 47 shots on Lambton Shores' net.

Chatham also got points from Gus Ford, who also finished with one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Chatham included Connor Koviak and Michael Levesque, who each put in one. In addition, Chatham received assists from Ian Faubert, who had two and Connor McKinnon, Dede Cato, and Cory Bussing, who contributed one each.

The Predators' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Chatham power plays. The Maroons were unable to stop Lambton Shores from sending pucks towards the net, and the Predators eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Lambton Shores was helped by Sean Ross, who racked up two goals. Ross scored the first of his two goals at 8:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lambton Shores. Ross' next tally made the score 3-1 Lambton Shores with 19:07 left in the third period. Ben Woo provided the assist. Marcel Berube also scored for Lambton Shores. More assists for Lambton Shores came via Calvin Hughson, Franco Sproviero, and Brenden Trottier, who each chipped in one.

Chatham's Brendan Johnston stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Maroons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Chatham ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Logan Percy was ejected from the game. Anthony Hurtubise made 42 saves for the Predators on 46 shots. Lambton Shores incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
