Caledonia penalty kill dominates in 5-1 defeat of Welland

The Caledonia Corvairs' penalty kill was superb, as Caledonia survived multiple penalties to beat the Welland Jr. Canadians, 5-1.

The Corvairs were led by Jake Brown, who registered one goal. Brown scored 16:34 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Caledonia. Nick Zottl picked up the assist.

Caledonia's offense rang up 50 shots on Welland's net. The Corvairs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Caledonia also got points from Blake Luscombe, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Corey Pawley, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Caledonia also had goals scored by Austin Brown and Johnathon Schaefer, who scored one goal each. More assists for Caledonia came via Matthew Hore, who had two and Mitch Graham, Matt McCartney, Tait Seguin, and Todd Ratchford, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances.

Mark Sinclair made 19 saves for Caledonia on 20 shots. The Corvairs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Chris Janzen recorded 45 saves for Welland. The Jr. Canadians incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
